Sheikh Hamdan Chairs 2025 Defence Council, Boosts UAE Forces

Dubai, 2025 – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, chaired the third Defence Council meeting of 2025, underscoring the nation’s commitment to building advanced defence capabilities.

During the session, Sheikh Hamdan lauded the continuous support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, emphasizing the leadership’s focus on developing national talent, investing in human resources, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to create a fully integrated defence system.

Sheikh Hamdan stressed that enhancing the UAE’s defence readiness is a national priority, ensuring the security of national achievements while strengthening regional stability. He highlighted ongoing efforts to equip the country’s armed forces with modern skills, knowledge, and technologies, preparing them to respond effectively to emerging challenges.

The meeting reviewed progress across several key programmes aimed at enhancing operational preparedness and advancing innovation within the defence sector. Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed the leadership’s unwavering support for the armed forces, ensuring they continue to serve as a global benchmark for efficiency, flexibility, and technological integration.

Attendees included His Excellency Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs; His Excellency Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; and Major General Michael Hindmarsh, Adviser and President of Zayed Military University, alongside senior officers and Ministry of Defence officials.

An official statement highlighted, “The Defence Council remains committed to modernising the UAE’s defence sector through strategic projects, advanced technology adoption, and development of national expertise, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global model in military efficiency.”
