Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, honoured the winners of the Emirates International Holy Quran Award. This award was organised by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments & Zakat (AWQAF).
The award ceremony took place today at the Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi. The event was attended by several important leaders, government officials, and respected scholars who were invited by the UAE President during the holy month of Ramadan.

Who Attended the Ceremony?
The event had the presence of many senior officials and ministers from the UAE government. Some of the notable attendees included:
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan - Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.
Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan - UAE Minister of State.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan - Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Court.
Shaykh Abdallah Bin Bayyah - Chairman of the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa.
Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri - Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology.
Sara Musallam - Minister of State for Early Education and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak - Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa - Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport.
Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri - Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.
Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab - Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement.
Saif Saeed Ghobash - Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
How Did the Ceremony Start?
The event began with a beautiful recitation from the Holy Quran by Ghaniya Ali Al-Azizi. After that, a short film was shown to highlight the purpose of the award. The film talked about how the UAE government and its leadership have always supported the Holy Quran and its memorisation by creating several Quranic centers worldwide.
The film also showed the categories of the Emirates International Holy Quran Award and how the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments & Zakat (AWQAF) played a big role in organising this grand event.
Speech by the Chairman of AWQAF
His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments & Zakat, gave a special speech during the event. In his speech, he thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his strong support in organising the award.
He mentioned that this award was a wonderful initiative by the UAE leadership to promote the learning and memorisation of the Holy Quran. He also said that this award would inspire many young children and adults to read, memorise, and follow the teachings of the Holy Quran.
Dr. Omar Al Darei also expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for attending the ceremony and honouring the winners. He congratulated all the winners and their families for their hard work and dedication towards memorising the Holy Quran.
Winners from Different Countries
The Emirates International Holy Quran Award recognised winners from different countries. The winners were divided into two categories: International Category and Local Category.
International Category Winners:
United Arab Emirates: Sheikha Alia bint Saeed Maktoum Rashid Al Maktoum, Rashid Ali Khalfan Binkhalaf AlNaqbi.
Oman: Lith Isehaq Al Kendi.
Bahrain: Mohammed Adnan AlOmari, Mohammed Sameer Magahed.
Egypt: Mahmoud Ali Attiya Habib.
Morocco: Ilias laMhayaoui.
Mauritania: Ekaha Ould Beitate.
Palestine: Mohammed Sami Mitwali.
Nigeria: Fatima Lawn Abubakar.
Local Category Winners:
United Arab Emirates: Suhaib Ali Mohammed Dawood Abdullah, Omar Mohamed Ali Alkabouri AlNaqbi, Omar Muammar Ali Ahmed Ba Nabila, Aisha Ali Mohamed Alechla Al Ali.
Bangladesh: Abdul Wadud Sorif Hussain.
Egypt: Mansour Mohamed Mansour Elatrawy, Aesha Elsebaey Mohamed Mohamed Elbasyouni.
Syria: Ansam Ahmad Sweedan.
Mauritania: Zeinabou kbar.
The winners were honoured with awards and certificates for their outstanding efforts in memorising the Holy Quran.
Special Appreciation Award
A special award was also given to Mona Abdulqader Salem AlGhassani, the former Director of Religious Centers and Institutes Administration, AWQAF. She was recognised for her 20 years of service in promoting the learning and memorisation of the Holy Quran.
In addition to this, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) was also honoured for being a supporting entity of the Emirates International Holy Quran Award.
The Event Ended with Group Photos
At the end of the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan took a group photo with the winners and all the attendees. The photo will be kept in the award’s archives to remember this special event.
The UAE leadership has always supported Islamic values, Holy Quran memorisation, and religious education, and this award is proof of their continuous efforts.
