The Singapore police have escorted a 48-year-old man, Ong Hou Cheong, back to the crime scene in Geylang as part of their ongoing investigation into the fatal stabbing of a 70-year-old victim, Chow Ling Fei.
The incident, involving severe stab wounds to Chow's chest, occurred on March 9, with authorities alerted to a fight happening at Lorong 16 Geylang at around 8:15 am.
Reports indicate that the suspect and victim were acquainted, although the details of their relationship remain undisclosed. Ong, who regained consciousness post-incident, was officially charged with murder the next day.
On April 3, police conducted a reconstruction at approximately 9:15 am in a private car park beside the Shanyuan Ancient Buddhist Lodge, an area where crucial evidence was previously gathered.
During the scene visit, Ong wore a red polo shirt and black shorts, with restraints on his hands and feet. Witnesses noted a mostly expressionless demeanor, though he did respond to investigative queries.
The session continued for about 20 minutes as officers navigated through important evidence sites. Markers on the ground highlighted areas of forensic significance.
Around 20 onlookers quietly observed the proceedings while police ensured a controlled environment. Ongoing investigations aim to clarify the sequence of events surrounding this tragic incident, with further updates anticipated as the case unfolds.
