The Government of Dubai has introduced a Dhs1 billion economic support package aimed at protecting jobs and supporting businesses across the emirate. The initiative was approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as part of efforts to strengthen economic stability.
The package includes a range of financial relief measures to ease pressure on businesses and individuals over the next three to six months. A major focus has been placed on the hospitality sector, with hotel-related fees such as sales charges on rooms and food services temporarily postponed.
In addition, the Tourism Dirham fee — typically charged to hotel guests — has also been suspended for three months, helping reduce costs for both businesses and visitors. Authorities have also announced plans to simplify the issuance and renewal of residency permits, which is expected to benefit workers and employers alike.
Beyond hospitality, several business-related fees across industries have been deferred, including licence amendment costs, service fees, and waste management charges. The government has also extended customs data grace periods from 30 to 90 days to support trade operations.
Officials stated that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost employment, improve living standards, and ensure long-term economic resilience. Additional programs, including workforce development and improved living conditions for workers, are also being introduced to support sustainable growth in Dubai.
