Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finished building 141 new bus shelters. This is part of a bigger plan to build 762 shelters in important places all around Dubai. These shelters are made to look modern and be easy for people to use. They will make waiting for the bus more comfortable and pleasant. The project is 40% complete, and the RTA wants to finish it by the end of 2025.
The new shelters will help many bus routes, with some shelters having more than 10 bus routes stopping at them. When the project is finished, these shelters will help more than 182 million bus riders every year.
Mattar Al Tayer, who is the head of RTA, said that these new shelters show how the RTA wants to make public transport in Dubai better. He said the goal is to make the transport system easier for people living in and visiting Dubai.
“These new shelters are a part of our goal to make Dubai grow and provide safe, easy transport for everyone. We want to improve the buses for all people,” said Al Tayer.

The RTA chose places for the shelters that have a lot of people and are important to the city. These areas were picked carefully so that buses will have enough space to park, and it will be easy for people to use public transport. The shelters are being built first in areas where the buildings and services are already there, which helps the project move faster.
The shelters will also have air conditioning in the future. They will have shaded areas, signs showing bus schedules, and information screens that will tell bus passengers details about the buses.
The shelters will be divided into four types based on how many people use them. The busiest shelters, called primary shelters, will be built in places where over 750 people use the shelter every day. The secondary shelters will be for places where 250 to 750 people use them every day. Basic shelters will be for places where 100 to 250 people use them daily, and drop-off and pick-up shelters will be for places with fewer than 100 people.
The shelters will also be built for people with disabilities. They will have special spaces for people in wheelchairs. This follows Dubai’s rules to make the city easier for everyone to live in, no matter what their needs are. This is part of a plan called “My Community… A City for Everyone,” started by Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The goal of this plan is to make Dubai a city that is easy for all people, including those with special needs, to live in.
This project is an important part of RTA’s plan to improve public transport in Dubai. The new shelters will make it easier and more comfortable for people to travel around the city.
