Abu Dhabi: Saudi poet Hussam bin Fayyah won the Poetry Banner (Bayraq) at the grand finale of the 12th season of Million’s Poet, held at Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi.
The award was presented in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, and His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation.
The finale was also attended by Sheikh Arhama bin Saud bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Saud bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of the Authority, along with several officials, poets, and Nabati poetry fans.
The final episode received strong engagement from millions of viewers. The final scores were based on 40 points from audience voting and 60 points from the judging panel. The judges’ score was divided equally between the semi-final and final episodes.
The judging panel included Dr Sultan Al Ameemi, Dr Ghassan Al Hassan, and poet Hamad Al Saeed, who announced the final rankings from sixth place to first.
1st: Hussam bin Fayyah (Saudi Arabia) — AED 5 million + Poetry Banner
2nd: Amer Al Aydi (Saudi Arabia) — AED 4 million
3rd: Hamad Mohayya Al Aybani (Kuwait) — AED 3 million
4th: Abdulmajeed Saqr Al Azza Al Subaie (Saudi Arabia) — AED 2 million
5th: Abdullah Mohammed Al Ajami (Kuwait) — AED 1 million
6th: Mohammed Munawer Al Nafi’i (Saudi Arabia) — AED 600,000
Million’s Poet is produced by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and has been running for nearly 20 years. The programme is widely recognised as the largest and most influential Nabati poetry competition in the Arab world, helping discover new talents and giving them a major public platform.
The competition has also strengthened the position of Nabati poetry across the Arab cultural and media scene, while supporting Abu Dhabi’s role as a leading hub for poets and poetry.
