MGX Approves Major AI Investments in Global Expansion

Abu Dhabi, September 2025 – His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the MGX Board of Directors, chaired MGX’s second board meeting, where the company approved significant investments across the artificial intelligence (AI) technology sector.

The board endorsed a range of major investments spanning semiconductors, infrastructure, and AI applications. MGX confirmed an additional investment in OpenAI during its latest US$300 billion valuation funding round, highlighting confidence in the company’s growing user engagement and revenue.

MGX also partnered with Silver Lake to acquire a 51 per cent stake in Altera, valuing the company at US$8.7 billion and creating the world’s largest independent pure-play FPGA business. In addition, MGX co-led Databricks’ US$1 billion Series K funding round, supporting the company’s rapid expansion.

The board meeting was attended by His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, His Excellency Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Peng Xiao, Martin Edelman, and Ahmed Yahia Al Idrissi.

Established in March 2024 by the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council in Abu Dhabi, MGX is a technology investment company focused on accelerating AI development and adoption globally. Its investments target sectors where AI can create broad economic impact, including semiconductors, infrastructure, software, tech-enabled services, life sciences, automation, and robotics.
