Liverpool won the Premier League title with a big 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. The team only needed one point to secure their 20th league title, and they got much more than that.
The match started with a surprise as Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke scored a goal in the 12th minute. But Liverpool didn’t give up. Luis Diaz scored a quick equalizer, then Alexis Mac Allister scored a powerful shot from outside the box, and Cody Gakpo added another goal before the first half ended.

In the second half, Mohamed Salah ended a six-match goal drought. He scored a low shot past Tottenham’s goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in the 63rd minute. Salah celebrated by taking a selfie with a fan. Things got worse for Tottenham when Destiny Udogie scored an own goal, giving Liverpool another goal.
Liverpool’s win meant they matched Manchester United’s record of 20 English league titles. They now have 82 points from 34 games, with Arsenal far behind with only 67 points.
After the match, the famous song "You'll Never Walk Alone" played, and Liverpool fans, along with club legends like Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush, celebrated together.
Arne Slot, who replaced Juergen Klopp as manager last year, was happy after the win. He said, “It’s hard to put into words. Everyone said we had already won, but there’s still pressure to make sure we did it.”
Slot became the fifth manager in Premier League history to win the title in his first season.
Five years ago, when Liverpool won the league for the first time in 30 years, the celebrations were much quieter because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But this time, the fans sang songs and cheered long before the match even started.
Tottenham, who were in 16th place, made eight changes to their team, looking ahead to their Europa League semi-final. They briefly took the lead with Solanke’s goal, but Liverpool quickly fought back. Diaz scored, and after a VAR check, it was confirmed as a goal.
Mac Allister’s strong shot and Gakpo’s goal put Liverpool firmly in control. Then, Salah finished things off with his goal, completing the 5-1 win.
Captain Virgil van Dijk said, “It’s special, and we don’t take it for granted. We are truly the deserved champions.”
Liverpool deserved the title after an amazing season, with only two losses in 34 games. The fans and players celebrated this important victory together.
