Mohamed Salah made a surprising statement about his future at Liverpool after his team won 2-0 against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. This victory helped Liverpool stay at the top of the Premier League. Salah played a big part in the win, helping Cody Gakpo score the first goal and then scoring a penalty in the second half.
After the game, Salah said something that made many people wonder about his future. He hinted that this might be the “last time” he plays against Manchester City at Anfield, suggesting he could"be leaving" the club soon. Salah said:
“Honestly, it’s in my head. Until now, this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool, so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible, so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully, we just win the league, and we will see what happens.”

Salah also spoke about his contract in a previous interview after Liverpool's win against Southampton. He said, “Well, we are almost in December, and I haven't received any offers yet to stay at the club, so I’m probably more out than in. You know now, I’ve been at the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end, it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
He added, “I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it’s not in my hands or the fans' hands. Let’s wait and see. Of course, yeah.”
Losing Salah would be a huge loss for Liverpool. He is the best player on the team right now, having scored 11 goals and made seven assists in just 13 games this season. His great performances are one of the main reasons why Liverpool is at the top of the Premier League with a nine-point lead.
There have been some reports saying that Liverpool and Salah have talked about a new contract. However, Salah’s comments show that he is not sure if he will stay with the club. Some teams in Saudi Arabia have shown interest in him, but Salah has said that he doesn’t want to move to the Middle East.
Salah’s current contract with Liverpool ends next summer. Starting on January 1, he will be able to talk to teams from other countries outside the Premier League. Given how important Salah is to Liverpool, the club should try everything to keep him.
