The home of a chief minister is more than just a place to live. It is also a place where important meetings take place and many decisions are made. In Maharashtra, the official residence of the chief minister is known as Varsha, located in the beautiful and well-known Malabar Hill area of south Mumbai. A recent video showed the inside of this residence, guided by Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Varsha is a mix of comfort, tradition, and modern living. It is designed to be both a home and a space for official work. The house has calm and soft colours, mostly whites and creams, which make the rooms look clean, bright, and peaceful. The furniture is simple, strong, and traditional. This style suits the purpose of the house, which is both formal and personal.
The main living area includes the family’s private rooms, bedrooms, and a simple white kitchen. There is also a dining area with wooden flooring. The wooden floor brings warmth to the home and makes the space feel inviting. Bright yellow chairs in the dining room add a cheerful touch to the simple colour theme.
Personal items like family photographs, art pieces, and small religious idols bring emotional warmth into the house. These small details show that even in an official home, family life continues with love and personal memories.
One of the most special parts of Varsha is the garden. The garden has different types of trees, including a tall coconut tree. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, providing a quiet break from the busy city outside. Amruta Fadnavis shared that she enjoys spending time in the garden, feeding birds and caring for the plants. The family also keeps pets, including a calf and a colourful bird (a macaw) named “Chicken,” which adds a playful and homely feel to the residence.
This house is not just about power and politics. It also shows a softer, peaceful side of life. It is a place where work happens, but also where a family lives, rests, and finds comfort.
The tour of Varsha helps people understand that official homes are not always grand in a loud or showy way. Instead, they can be designed to reflect balance, calmness, culture, and everyday life. Varsha seems to offer that balance well: a space where the chief minister works for the state, and at the same time, a place where his family can live normally and peacefully.
In a city like Mumbai, where life is always fast and loud, a home that feels quiet, natural, and thoughtful is truly meaningful.
