Wearing sunscreen every day is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your skin. Many people skip sunscreen thinking short sun exposure or staying in the shade is enough. But daily use is essential to prevent dark spots, premature wrinkles, and even serious issues like skin cancer.
Dr Smiti Johri, a dermatologist and assistant professor, recommends using sunscreen with SPF 50+ and PA+++ for daily protection. SPF 50+ blocks nearly 98% of harmful UVB rays, which are the main cause of sunburn and skin cancer. PA+++ indicates strong protection against UVA rays, which penetrate deeper into the skin and cause ageing, pigmentation, and structural damage.
For effective daily protection, Dr Johri suggests these five sunscreens:
La Shield Fisico SPF 50 PA+++ Mineral Sunscreen – Mineral-based and safe for sensitive skin. Good for daily use and pregnancy-safe.
All Skin Sun Cote Sunscreen Gel SPF 50 – Lightweight gel for oily or combination skin, offering broad-spectrum protection.
Fixderma Shadow Sunscreen SPF 50+ Gel for Kids PA+++ – Non-greasy, water-resistant, and safe for children aged 2+.
VENUSIA Dr. Reddy's Sun Tint SPF 115 – India’s first high-SPF sunscreen with matte finish, full-spectrum 12-hour protection, and no white cast.
Rivela Dermascience Ultralight Matte Sunscreen Gel SPF 50 PA+++ – Non-sticky, zinc oxide-based sunscreen for normal to oily skin, offering effective broad-spectrum protection.
Studies show that daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen can improve skin clarity, reduce pigmentation, and protect skin cells from UV damage. Choosing the right sunscreen also depends on skin type. Mineral-based sunscreens are ideal for sensitive or dry skin, while gel-based sunscreens work well for oily skin.
Experts remind everyone that using sunscreen should be a daily habit, not just for sunny days. Proper application on all exposed areas ensures maximum protection. Along with sunscreen, wearing hats, sunglasses, and staying hydrated can further shield your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
In conclusion, a good daily sunscreen is a vital part of your skincare routine. Using SPF 50+ and PA+++ products can help protect your skin from sunburn, ageing, pigmentation, and long-term damage, keeping it healthy and radiant every day.
