Dubai | February 2026 — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the media centre and the operations and cybersecurity centre at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026 in Dubai.
He was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE.
The World Governments Summit 2026 began today in Dubai and will continue until 5 February. This year’s summit is being held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.”
During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of both media and cybersecurity in ensuring national progress and stability.
He said that media plays a key role in delivering accurate messages and raising public awareness, while cybersecurity serves as the first line of defence by protecting data and ensuring business continuity. He added that these efforts are strengthened by teams that support action and achievement, creating an integrated system that builds trust, secures results and delivers long-term positive impact.
Sheikh Mohammed also said that media today is not just a reporter of events, but a driver of impact. He described cybersecurity as the guardian of the digital space, and highlighted that people remain at the centre of complete success.
The visit was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee; His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit; along with several senior officials.
The summit is receiving wide media coverage, with more than 840 international, regional and local media outlets present, supported by over 44 media partners.
WGS 2026 is witnessing the largest leadership participation in its history. The summit has brought together more than 60 heads of state and government and their deputies, along with over 500 ministers, representatives from more than 150 governments, and global experts and thought leaders. More than 6,250 participants are attending the event.
