Sharjah Design Centre: Leading Design and Prototyping Hub in Sharjah

The Sharjah Design Centre (SDC) has been officially set up after a special decision made by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah. This new center is an important step in Sharjah’s plan to support design and production industries. It will help make Sharjah a global leader in creative design and innovation.

The SDC will be located in the Sharjah Creative Quarter (SCQ), a big project that is being led by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. The project is also supported by Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi and managed by BEEAH Group. The SDC will have modern labs for different types of design, like glass, ceramics, textiles, prototyping, wood, metal, and jewelry. These labs will help professionals, artists, and designers by giving them the tools they need to create new and eco-friendly designs.

Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi has been appointed as the director of the SDC. Sheikha Hind has been working hard to build up Sharjah’s design and production industries and bring more creative ideas to life. She said, “The Sharjah Design Centre is a great opportunity to bring together creative talent and the industry. By connecting the industrial area with the center’s facilities, we want to encourage teamwork between creative and business sectors. This project will improve design quality and help grow the economy by including more people in the creative process.”

The building where the Sharjah Design Centre will be located is a beautiful piece of architecture. It was designed by the famous Mexican architecture group, Taller de Arquitectura – Mauricio Rocha, and is a symbol of Sharjah’s focus on innovation and sustainability.

The SDC will also be close to other important cultural places like the Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Collection, the Qasimi Archives, the Sharjah Fashion Lab, the Irthi Museum, and the L’École – School of Jewelry Arts. All these places will work together to create a center for new ideas and creativity.

With the Sharjah Design Centre, Sharjah is showing its dedication to becoming a global center for creative talent and helping its design and production industries grow in a sustainable way. This project will celebrate the best local and international talent and help build a creative economy that benefits everyone.
