The fourth instalment of the adult comedy franchise, Mastiii 4, is set for theatrical release on 21 November following clearance by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The board mandated several edits, including visual and dialogue modifications, before granting the film an ‘A’ certificate on 17 November.
CBFC asked the filmmakers to delete a nine-second ‘animal humping’ scene and reduce a 30-second close-up sequence of human faces. Specific dialogues were also altered to comply with certification guidelines. The word behen (sister) was replaced in one dialogue, the term item was substituted in another, and an alcohol brand name was changed in one scene. These changes were made to ensure the film adhered to censorship norms while retaining its core adult-comedy theme.
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Mastiii 4 reunites the franchise’s original stars: Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani. This film marks Aftab Shivdasani’s return to cinema after six years. The movie also features Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, and Ruhi Singh, with special appearances by Genelia D’Souza, Arshad Warsi, and Nargis Fakhri.
The Masti series began in 2004 with the original Masti, directed by Indra Kumar, which was a sleeper hit earning ₹34 crore. Its 2013 sequel, Grand Masti, was a blockbuster, collecting over ₹150 crore worldwide. The third instalment, Great Grand Masti (2016), did not match the previous films’ success. Mastiii 4 continues the franchise’s signature adult-comedy format with a mix of returning and new cast members.
