India delivered a dominant performance against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup match held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 16, 2026. The Indian team secured a convincing 61-run victory in a highly anticipated contest between the two cricketing rivals.
Batting first, India posted a strong total of 175 for 7 in 20 overs. Opener Ishan Kishan played a key role in building the innings with a quick and aggressive 77 runs. His fearless batting during the powerplay gave India early momentum and put pressure on Pakistan’s bowlers.
In response, Pakistan struggled to keep up with the required run rate and were bowled out for 114 runs in 18 overs. India’s disciplined bowling attack ensured there was no comeback opportunity for their opponents. With this win, India improved their T20 World Cup record against Pakistan to 8-1.
After the match, India captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the victory to fans across the country. He said the team executed their plans perfectly and played the brand of cricket they had prepared for. He also praised Ishan Kishan for his responsible and attacking approach at the top of the order.
Player of the Match Ishan Kishan said that an India vs Pakistan match is always special. He admitted that emotions are high in such games but added that the team focused on playing positive cricket. He said the win would boost India’s confidence for the remaining matches in the tournament.
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha acknowledged that his team could have performed better despite the pressure surrounding the game. He urged his players to stay focused and look at the bigger picture as they aim to qualify for the Super Eight stage. Pakistan must now win their final group match against Namibia to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
The match had drawn global attention due to the intense rivalry between the two nations. However, on the field, India remained calm and clinical, securing a comprehensive victory in one of the most awaited matches of the T20 World Cup 2026.
