Dubai is now one step closer to a smart, futuristic lifestyle, as three major companies—Parkonic, Salik, and Dubai Holding—have teamed up to bring the UAE’s first fully autonomous, AI-powered parking system to life. This new system will change how people park their cars in the city. It covers over 36,000 parking spaces in famous and busy communities across Dubai.
This is not just any parking system. It is smarter, faster, and easier for everyone to use. The aim is to make parking more convenient while helping Dubai move closer to becoming a fully smart city under the Smart City 2030 and Future Mobility Vision.

What Is This Project All About?
Parkonic, the UAE’s biggest private parking operator and a pioneer in smart parking systems, has partnered with Salik, Dubai’s exclusive toll gate operator. Together, they have joined forces with Dubai Holding, a global investment company that invests in over 30 countries.
The partnership will roll out a fully autonomous parking system that works both on the streets (on-street) and in parking lots or garages (off-street). The system does not require tickets, paper receipts, or barriers. Most importantly, there is no need for human staff to check or manage the parking.
This new parking setup is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and uses advanced technologies like automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). Salik’s smart payment methods make the process smooth and automatic.
How Does the Smart Parking Work?
Here’s what makes this parking system different and exciting:
No Tickets or Barriers: You drive in and out of the parking without stopping.
No Need for Staff: There’s no one to give tickets or check your car. Everything is handled by smart machines and cameras.
Automatic Payments: As soon as your car leaves the parking, the fee is calculated and charged through Salik’s cashless system.
No Overstay Fines: Since the system keeps track of how long you parked, it avoids problems like fines for parking too long.
Multilingual Interfaces: People who speak different languages can use the system easily.
Zero Manual Interaction: You don’t need to talk to anyone or touch any buttons. Everything is automated.
Why This Partnership Matters
This is more than just a tech project. This partnership is about improving everyday life in Dubai. For residents and visitors, it means less time spent searching for parking, fewer traffic jams, and no more standing in lines or worrying about losing tickets.
It’s also about the environment. By making parking easier and quicker, the project will help reduce traffic congestion and cut down on harmful emissions from cars idling or circling to find parking.
In the words of Imad Alameddine, CEO of Parkonic: “This partnership is a milestone for urban mobility in Dubai. Together with Salik and Dubai Holding, we're building a future where parking is seamless, intelligent, and user-centric. Dubai Holding’s trust in Parkonic reflects our innovation and dedication. This collaboration goes beyond parking—it’s about preparing for autonomous vehicles, AI-driven services, and a fully integrated mobility ecosystem. Dubai is leading the way, and Parkonic is proud to be at its core.”
Support for Dubai’s Smart City Vision
The whole idea fits well with Dubai’s Smart City 2030 vision—a long-term plan to turn Dubai into one of the smartest and most connected cities in the world. It also supports the Future Mobility Vision, which aims to improve how people move around the city using the latest technologies.
This smart parking solution is part of Dubai’s goal to offer easy, safe, and intelligent services that improve daily life for everyone—citizens, visitors, and businesses.
Better Experience for Residents and Tourists
People who live in or visit the communities covered by this smart parking plan will be the first to enjoy the benefits. With over 36,000 parking spots becoming smart and connected, drivers will find it much easier to park and move around.
There will be no more ticket booths, no paper receipts, and no guessing how much time you have left before you get fined. Instead, the whole process is automatic, from start to finish.
This system is also good for people with disabilities or elderly individuals, since it doesn’t require them to walk to machines or handle any physical tasks. Everything is done digitally and remotely.
Environment-Friendly and Efficient
This new parking solution will help the environment by:
Reducing time spent searching for parking
Lowering carbon emissions
Reducing traffic jams
With fewer cars circling around looking for space, there’s less pollution. That supports Dubai’s Net Zero goals—an important mission to reduce the city’s carbon footprint and make it more sustainable for future generations.
Who Are the Partners?
Let’s take a closer look at the companies involved in this smart transformation:
About Parkonic
Parkonic is the largest private parking company in the UAE. They are experts in building smart, AI-based parking systems that improve how people move in cities. Parkonic’s systems help make urban life smoother by making parking easy and intelligent.
About Salik Company PJSC
Salik is the only toll gate operator in Dubai. They manage tolls on the city’s major roads, especially Sheikh Zayed Road. Their system uses Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) to charge drivers without stopping them.
Salik became a public company in 2022 and is listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). They signed a 49-year deal with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to manage all toll gates in Dubai until 2071.
About Dubai Holding
Dubai Holding is a global investment company that works in more than 30 countries. They invest in areas like tourism, technology, and smart city development. Their support in this project shows their commitment to making Dubai one of the smartest and most advanced cities in the world.
This project is not just about parking—it’s a major step toward the future. With fully AI-powered systems, cashless payments, barrier-free access, and automatic billing, Dubai is showing the world how smart cities should work.
Residents, tourists, and businesses will all benefit from this system. It's easier, faster, more efficient, and environmentally friendly. Most importantly, it sets the stage for even bigger changes—like self-driving cars and smart roads—that are just around the corner.
With Parkonic, Salik, and Dubai Holding working together, Dubai is leading the way in smart urban design and helping people move smarter, live better, and drive less stressfully.
