The organizing body of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open has proudly announced that Victoria Mboko, the Canadian tennis prodigy, will make her much-anticipated debut at this prestigious tournament. Scheduled for January 31 to February 7, 2026, the WTA 500 event will unfold at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City, promising an electrifying atmosphere for tennis fans.
At just 19 years old and hailing from Toronto, Mboko had an extraordinary 2025 season, skyrocketing from outside the top 300 to the elite top 20 in the world rankings. Her crowning moment came in August when she triumphed at the renowned WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Montreal, defeating four Grand Slam champions, including Naomi Osaka, to capture her first WTA title.
Continuing her momentum, she secured another WTA title in Hong Kong in November, and earlier in the year, she made waves by clinching four consecutive ITF World Tennis Tour titles. Additionally, reaching the third round of the French Open showcased her talent and determination. In just one year, her remarkable journey has placed her among the most exciting emerging stars in women’s tennis.
The upcoming Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open will also see the defending champion Belinda Bencic and rising players like Alexandra Eala from the Philippines. Fans can anticipate fierce competition and captivating matches as Victoria Mboko makes her debut in the UAE, facing some of the best talent in the world.
With her stellar performances in 2025 and rapid rise in the rankings, Mboko’s participation is expected to attract substantial attention from tennis fans and media. Her story highlights the surge of young talents making waves on the WTA Tour and ensuring thrilling encounters in every event she enters.
