The US election scene is set for a noteworthy shift as candidates turn their attention to Texas this Friday. Vice President Kamala Harris will rally in Houston alongside pop superstar Beyoncé, while former President Donald Trump prepares for an interview with renowned podcaster Joe Rogan in Austin. This unorthodox stop in solidly Republican Texas occurs just days before the pivotal November 5 election, especially for Harris, who aims to regain momentum in critical battleground states.

The Democratic campaign is banking on a star-studded event to spotlight Republican policies on abortion, a key issue for Harris as she positions herself against Trump. The rally will also feature country music legend Willie Nelson, adding to the star power of the event.

Beyoncé's endorsement of Harris follows a series of high-profile endorsements for the Vice President, including support from Taylor Swift. Harris has also garnered appearances from several artists, such as Lizzo, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, and Usher, showcasing a strong cultural backing.

The appearance marks Beyoncé's first public rally with Harris, although the Grammy Award-winning artist has previously performed for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Notably, Harris received permission to use Beyoncé's anthem "Freedom," which has served as a rallying cry in her campaign for the White House.

Both candidates are shifting away from traditional media channels, opting instead to engage with younger, uncommitted voters through podcasts and social media platforms. Harris's efforts aim to connect with this demographic, while Trump seeks to tap into Rogan's vast audience to create viral moments that resonate with everyday Americans. Rogan's podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience," has been the most listened to on Spotify for the past four years and boasts 17.5 million YouTube subscribers, with individual episodes drawing millions of views.

The timing of these events is significant as November's presidential election will be the first following the Supreme Court's 2022 ruling that overturned nationwide abortion protections. Harris has consistently linked Trump to the ruling, highlighting personal stories of women denied crucial reproductive health care under Texas's strict abortion laws, which now allow procedures only in rare cases.

Before heading to his rally in Michigan, Trump plans to address the media in Austin, discussing issues such as border security and migrant crime. His campaign is keen to leverage the attention generated from Rogan's show, where the former president hopes to solidify his appeal to voters ahead of the election.

This dynamic interplay of celebrity support and strategic campaigning illustrates the increasingly unconventional tactics both parties are employing as they prepare for the final stretch leading up to the elections.
