Many people believe diabetes appears suddenly, but experts say this is not true. The body starts giving warning signs long before a diagnosis. These signs are often ignored because they look like simple tiredness, stress, or normal lifestyle changes. Noida-based gut and metabolic health coach Dipika Rampa has shared how the body signals trouble early and what you can do to stop diabetes before it starts.
Dipika explains that diabetes begins with a slow build-up of insulin resistance. This can happen years before you ever see clear symptoms. Insulin is the hormone that helps your body use sugar for energy. When insulin stops working properly, sugar stays in the blood, and the body starts storing more fat. Over time, this leads to pre-diabetes and then diabetes.
One of the biggest reasons for insulin resistance is eating too often, even if the food is healthy. Dipika says that when you eat multiple times in a day, your insulin never gets a rest. The body keeps releasing insulin again and again, and this constant rise makes your cells stop responding. This is when your body enters “fat storage mode,” even if you think you are eating correctly.
Before diabetes shows up, many people experience small signs that they do not recognise. These may include feeling tired all the time, gaining weight around the belly, craving sweets more often, feeling hungry soon after meals, or having trouble losing weight. Some people may notice skin darkening around the neck or underarms, or they may feel sleepy after eating. These are early clues that the body is struggling with insulin.
The good news is that insulin resistance can be reversed if you take action early. Dipika suggests simple habits that can protect your health. Eating fewer times in a day and avoiding constant snacking can help insulin rest. Choosing meals with protein, fibre, and healthy fats keeps blood sugar stable. Regular walking, strength training, and staying active also improve how the body uses insulin. Good sleep and reducing stress play an important role too.
Dipika stresses that it is better to act early rather than wait for serious symptoms. When you understand the early warning signs, you can make changes on time and avoid long-term problems. Diabetes does not have to be your future if you listen to your body today.
