Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, recently spoke about being trolled online for her clothing choices. She shared her thoughts during an interview on Curly Tales’ YouTube channel on November 9. Her comments came after she was criticized for what she wore during a beach cleanup event in Mumbai.
The cleanup drive took place at Juhu Beach after the Ganesh Visarjan festival. The event, called Sea Shore Shine 2025, aimed to clean the waste left behind and spread awareness about keeping beaches clean. Amruta joined the event along with actor Akshay Kumar, volunteers, and environmental groups.
However, instead of focusing on the cleanliness effort, many people on social media talked about what she was wearing. She had worn a beige fitted co-ord outfit that some people felt looked like gym wear and was “too body-fitted” for the occasion. Some users criticized her look rather than noticing her work in the cleanup.
When asked about how she felt, Amruta said trolling has happened to her before. She admitted that there were moments when she felt bad, not because people commented on her clothes, but because their comments shifted the attention away from the cause she was trying to support. She said the purpose of the event was to raise awareness about waste, pollution, and cleanliness, and she worked hard with others to make it meaningful.
Amruta explained that she believes actions matter more than appearance. She wants people to focus on the effort put into the campaign and the positive change it can bring. She also shared that though the comments bothered her initially, she decided to stay focused and continue her work without getting discouraged.
In her words, the learning was that criticism will come, but staying committed to goals is more important. She believes consistency and dedication can speak louder than any negative remarks online.
This incident reflects a larger issue where public figures, especially women, are often judged more for how they look rather than what they contribute. Amruta’s response highlights the need to appreciate genuine efforts toward social change instead of focusing on personal appearance.
