His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council for Energy, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and Chairman and Chief Executive of the Emirates Group, officially inaugurated the 31st edition of the Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference (MPGC) today.
The conference, organized by S&P Global Commodity Insights and hosted by the ENOC Group, is taking place at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre until May 22, 2024. Themed "Evolving Core Energy Markets within a Sustainable Landscape," the event has attracted leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from the petroleum and gas industries worldwide.
Among the distinguished guests at the opening ceremony were His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Ahmad Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Chairman of ENOC Group, ENOC Board Members, His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC, ENOC management, and other industry leaders.

The primary focus of this year's conference is to examine the delicate balance between fossil fuels and renewable energy, particularly in light of global oil and gas flow disruptions, energy security concerns, and geopolitical issues. Additionally, MPGC 2024 offers three specialized training courses hosted by industry experts, providing attendees with essential knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of the energy sector.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC and Co-Chairman of the Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference, emphasized the significance of MPGC as a global platform for industry specialists to engage in discussions on current trends, challenges, and solutions. Against the backdrop of rapid transformation and evolving market dynamics, the conference serves as a catalyst for dialogue, innovation, and progress, aiming to foster insightful discussions, fruitful collaborations, and actionable outcomes to shape the future of energy.
Over the course of three days, MPGC 2024 will feature two optional tracks focusing on downstream activities, low-carbon projects, and emerging energy trends. Topics of discussion include the future of sustainable energy in aviation and maritime sectors, refinery optimization, chemical investments, gas and hydrogen interactions, carbon intensity in commodities trading, circular carbon economy, and regional advancements in hydrogen and its derivatives. The conference aims to provide valuable insights into developing a sustainable energy future amidst changing industry landscapes.
MPGC 2024 is expected to attract more than 400 participants from the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, including leading traders, oil and gas majors, national oil companies, refiners, consultants, digital technologists, financial institutions, legal firms, regulators, renewable energy players, and other supply and service companies.
