Dubai launched the 10th edition of the Knowledge Summit under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marking a milestone moment for one of the world’s most influential platforms dedicated to advancing knowledge and sustainable development. The event, organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre and will run until 20 November.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the summit, highlighting a decade-long journey in which the platform has grown into a global meeting point for experts, researchers, academics, and policymakers. She expressed pride in how the summit has evolved into a space that sparks meaningful dialogue, shapes future-focused ideas, and supports Dubai’s role as an international hub for innovation and knowledge exchange.

Held this year under the theme “Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities,” the summit examines how ideas, information, and innovation can be transformed into developmental value. Discussions throughout the day focused on how knowledge can fuel diversified economies, support technology adoption, and empower communities to flourish in a rapidly changing world.

The opening ceremony also unveiled the Global Knowledge Index 2025, with Switzerland topping the global rankings, followed by Singapore and Sweden. The UAE led the Arab region once again, ahead of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This year’s Index introduced updated methodologies, new sub-indicators, and revised statistical weightings to enhance accuracy and better reflect countries’ readiness for building knowledge-driven economies.

Throughout the first day, a full agenda of panel discussions, expert sessions, and interactive workshops explored critical topics including the evolution of knowledge markets, sustainability, education, research, innovation, digital transformation, and the growing role of partnerships in building strong knowledge ecosystems. Participants from around the world examined how knowledge exchange and collaborative thinking can help societies navigate accelerating global shifts while opening new paths for sustainable growth.

The Summit’s 10th edition marks not just a celebration of past achievements but a renewed step toward shaping future-ready communities and strengthening the global movement for knowledge-driven development.
