The Oklahoma City Thunder earned another impressive victory on Wednesday night, beating the Sacramento Kings 113-99 at home. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again led the way for Oklahoma City, scoring 33 points and showing why he is one of the top players in the league this season. His strong performance helped the Thunder extend their great start to the season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been in excellent form, and this game added to his list of strong performances. He scored 30 or more points for the 13th time this season and also collected eight rebounds. While he usually rests during the fourth quarter in recent games, this matchup was close enough that he stayed on the floor longer than usual.
His steady scoring and control helped Oklahoma City stay ahead whenever Sacramento tried to close the gap.
The Thunder have now won 15 of their first 16 games of the season, including their last seven. Their fast start has made them one of the strongest teams in the league. They continue to play with energy, teamwork, and confidence, making them difficult for any opponent to handle.
On the other side, the Sacramento Kings have been facing a tough period. This loss was their seventh in a row and their third straight defeat on their current five-game road trip. They played with determination but could not keep up with Oklahoma City’s balanced attack and strong defense.
Dennis Schroeder came off the bench to lead the Kings with 21 points. DeMar DeRozan added 17 points, and Malik Monk scored 16. However, Zach LaVine struggled again, scoring only eight points for the second straight game.
Unlike many of Oklahoma City’s recent games, which were big wins, this one remained competitive for much of the night. The Thunder took the lead for good early in the second quarter when Isaiah Hartenstein scored a layup. Sacramento kept fighting, staying within reach several times.
The Thunder built a 16-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Kings answered with a 9-2 run. Monk’s step-back three-pointer cut the deficit to nine, giving Sacramento some hope. However, Sacramento could not get any closer.
After going several minutes without making a field goal, the Thunder regained control with a strong 9-0 run. This run pushed the lead back into double digits and ended any chance of a Kings comeback. From that point on, Oklahoma City maintained their advantage and closed out the game confidently.
Chet Holmgren played an important role for the Thunder, scoring 21 points on an efficient 10-of-15 shooting. His ability to score inside and outside continues to be a key part of the team’s offense.
Luguentz Dort added 14 points and made four three-pointers, including three in the fourth quarter that helped Oklahoma City pull away. Isaiah Hartenstein also made a big impact with 12 rebounds, giving the Thunder extra possessions and strong interior defense.
After leading by eight points at halftime, Oklahoma City took control of the game in the third quarter through their defense. They forced the Kings into nine turnovers during the period, which led to 11 points on fast breaks and quick plays. Sacramento managed only 19 points in the quarter and made just one of their eight three-point attempts.
With this win, Oklahoma City completed a sweep of the season series against Sacramento, winning all three matchups. The Thunder once again showed consistency, good teamwork, and strong defensive effort—skills that have helped them build one of the best records in the league.
