The Philadelphia Flyers claimed a thrilling 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Blues after Trevor Zegras scored the only goal of the shootout. With two goals and one assist during regulation and the crucial shootout strike, Zegras was the strongest performer of the night. His confidence and control helped Philadelphia extend its point streak and secure another important win in a tightly fought NHL contest.
Trevor Zegras was not the only Flyers player to step up. Christian Dvorak also scored two goals and added an assist, giving Philadelphia a strong scoring presence throughout the night. Both players created pressure around the Blues’ net, finishing their chances and keeping the Flyers in the game even when they trailed multiple times. Their combined effort kept Philadelphia competitive in all three periods.
Owen Tippett played a crucial playmaking role, scoring one goal and assisting on three others. His vision and smart passing helped generate several of Philadelphia’s most important moments. Tippett’s high-slot goal in the third period tied the game 5-5 and completed the Flyers’ comeback. His all-around performance proved essential in a match filled with scoring swings.
The St. Louis Blues also had a strong offensive showing. Robert Thomas, Jimmy Snuggerud and Jordan Kyrou each collected one goal and one assist. Justin Faulk and Jimmy Holloway scored as well, giving the Blues leads on three different occasions. Their pressure kept the Flyers chasing the score for long stretches, and the Blues’ attack looked dangerous from beginning to end.
The shootout began with Robert Thomas missing on the Blues’ opening attempt. Zegras quickly answered by scoring on Philadelphia’s first try. Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson then made two huge saves against Snuggerud and Holloway, securing the win. Ersson finished with 12 saves in regulation and overtime, but his calmness in the shootout proved most important.
Although overtime did not produce a deciding goal, the Flyers controlled the extra period by outshooting the Blues 5-1. Their speed, passing and shot volume kept St. Louis pinned in their own zone. Even though the Blues managed to survive overtime, the Flyers’ momentum carried directly into the shootout.
The Blues struck first when Jordan Kyrou stole the puck from Zegras just 1:19 into the game and scored from the right circle. After Zegras tied the game at 8:18, Snuggerud gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later. The Blues kept finding ways to stay ahead, including goals from Faulk and Holloway, but they could not hold their leads against Philadelphia’s pushback.
Every time St. Louis moved ahead, the Flyers responded with determination. Dvorak scored only 23 seconds after Faulk made it 3-1. Later, Dvorak scored again to cut the Blues’ lead to 4-3, and Tippett completed the comeback by tying the game in the third period. This steady response showed the Flyers’ resilience and ability to stay focused even under pressure.
The final minutes of regulation were filled with fast skating, tight defense and urgent plays from both sides. The Flyers’ comeback forced overtime, and despite several chances in extra time, neither team scored. That set the stage for Zegras to finish the job in the shootout, securing a well-earned win for Philadelphia.
With the win, the Flyers extended their point streak to 3-0-2 and improved their recent form to 6-2-2 in their last ten games. The Blues, despite losing, kept their own streak alive by earning a point for the fourth straight game. Both teams showed strong offensive ability, but Philadelphia’s extra effort in overtime and the shootout made the final difference.
