The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) has garnered international recognition for its Paramedic Virtual Simulation Lab, located at the Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS), an affiliated institution. This acknowledgment comes from the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, which has selected the lab as a model to inspire similar advancements in the healthcare sector globally.

Established in 2021, the Paramedic Virtual Simulation Lab at FCHS plays a crucial role in advancing healthcare education by providing paramedic students with advanced training through simulated emergency scenarios. The lab is designed to enhance clinical skills and decision-making abilities, offering hands-on practice, immediate feedback, and ongoing skill assessment. This approach prepares students for real-life medical emergencies with a high degree of competence and confidence.

To date, the lab has successfully trained 336 students in a range of advanced emergency medical courses. These include life support, trauma care, disaster response, medical safety, geriatric care, and critical procedures such as intubation and haemorrhage control. The training provided by the simulation lab is instrumental in preparing students for the demands of emergency medical services, aligning with the UAE’s national objectives to enhance healthcare quality, educational standards, and public safety.

The recognition from UNESCO-UNEVOC highlights ACTVET’s commitment to excellence in healthcare education and adherence to international standards. The lab's simulation-based training model not only enriches educational and career opportunities for students but also contributes to a more skilled and prepared paramedic workforce. This investment in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector yields numerous benefits, including reduced training costs, minimized medical errors, improved patient outcomes, and enhanced student efficiency.

Overall, the lab's success reflects ACTVET's core values of investing in people and supports broader societal benefits, such as improved public health and educational advancement. This initiative aligns with the UAE’s national vision and contributes significantly to the country's development goals, reinforcing the importance of high-quality training and preparedness in the healthcare sector.
