The third season of The Family Man had a lot riding on it. With India’s OTT space becoming more crowded and competitive, delivering a consistent, engaging third season is no small feat. Season 3 largely succeeds, offering thrills, humour, and relatable family drama, but it falters at times with predictability and the overused cliffhanger trope.
Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) struggles to balance his shaky marriage with Suchi (Priyamani) while raising his witty kids (Ashlesha Thakur and Vedant Sinha). A mishap in the North East puts him on the run with his family and aide JK (Sharib Hashmi). With his own agency chasing him, Shrikant must stop notorious smuggler and assassin Rukma (Jaideep Ahlawat), who is planning a major attack with the help of international operative Meera (Nimrat Kaur).
The charm of The Family Man remains intact. The mix of humour and suspense continues to shine, and the playful banter between Shrikant and JK is as entertaining as ever. By letting the characters grow older and show more of their personal lives, the series remains relatable. Supporting characters like JK and Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) are given more depth, and the villain, Rukma, is layered—ruthless yet human, creating a compelling gray area rather than a one-dimensional antagonist.
Manoj Bajpayee once again delivers a stellar performance, capturing Shrikant’s inner conflict and vulnerability while keeping his charm intact. Jaideep Ahlawat is the perfect foil as Rukma, bringing both menace and humanity to the role. Sharib Hashmi’s chemistry with Manoj adds another highlight, and Seema Biswas makes a strong impression as Prime Minister Basu.
Despite its strengths, the season has drawbacks. Some jokes feel over-polished and tailored for social media virality, making certain scenes predictable. The finale disappoints with an abrupt cliffhanger, offering no closure—a first in the series. While the show entertains for most of its runtime, the ending leaves a sense of incompleteness.
The Family Man Season 3 remains engaging with its signature mix of humour, thrill, and strong performances. However, predictable moments and a cliffhanger ending prevent it from being as satisfying as previous seasons.
