Fatima Bosch from Mexico has been crowned Miss Universe 2025 at the grand finale held in Thailand. The 25-year-old became one of the most talked-about contestants this year, especially after a viral moment where she stayed calm despite being scolded during a live stream by a Thai pageant director. Her graceful reaction won global admiration and boosted her popularity.
Bosch received the crown from last year’s winner, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark. The first runner-up title went to Thailand’s Praveenar Singh, followed by Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali. The remaining spots in the Top 5 were taken by Ahtisa Manalo from the Philippines and Olivia Yacé of Ivory Coast.
Fatima Bosch was born in Santiago de Teapa in Tabasco, Mexico, and her win makes her the first woman from Tabasco to earn the Miss Universe title. She studied fashion design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico and later continued her education at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and Lyndon Institute in Vermont. Her pageant journey began in 2018 when she won the Flor de Oro crown in Tabasco. Bosch has also spoken openly about dealing with ADHD and dyslexia during her school years, inspiring many young followers through her honesty and confidence.
Before the finals, Bosch found herself in the middle of a controversy. During a live-streamed pre-pageant meeting, Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil scolded her over allegations that she was not posting enough promotional content. Reports claimed he used harsh words, although he later denied this, saying he only accused her of causing “damage” to the event. The incident led several contestants to walk out in solidarity with Bosch, which further strengthened her global support and made her one of the leading contenders for the title.
This year’s Miss Universe competition brought together 120 contestants from around the world. One of the standout participants was Nadeen Ayoub, who became the first woman to represent the Palestinian people. She advanced to the Top 30 before being eliminated. The event was hosted by American comedian Steve Byrne, while Thai singer Jeff Satur opened the show with a vibrant performance. Contestants competed in various rounds, including swimwear, evening gown, and interviews, eventually narrowing the group from the Top 120 to the Top 30, then to the Top 12, and finally to the Top 5.
In the final Q&A round, contestants spoke about global challenges and how they would empower young girls if they won. Bosch impressed the judges with her heartfelt message: “Believe in the power of your authenticity. Your dreams matter, your heart matters. Never let anyone make you doubt your worth.” Her thoughtful response and confident presence helped her secure the crown and win the admiration of people around the world.
