The Thai mixed doubles pair, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran, showcased extraordinary perseverance and skill, claiming their eighth title at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open—marking their first win of 2026. Their thrilling final on January 18 in India saw them defeat Denmark's Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje in a nail-biting three-set battle, finishing with scores of 16–21, 25–23, 21–18.
Ranked No. 4 worldwide and seeded third, Dechapol and Supissara advanced to the final after a stunning semi-final victory over the top-ranked Chinese team, Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. Their Danish rivals, ranked No. 12, also upset the competition by overcoming the world No. 2 Chinese duo, Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin.
This championship clash was fiercely contested. Despite taking a late lead at 19–16 in the opening game, the Thai team fell to the Danes, losing it 21–16. Determined not to yield, Dechapol and Supissara saved four match points in the second game, edging out a dramatic 25–23 win and leveling the match.
The final game remained intensely competitive. However, the Thai duo capitalized on crucial moments, ultimately sealing the match with a 21–18 victory. This win not only marks their first title of the year but also solidifies their impressive record of eight championships on the BWF World Tour, reinforcing their status as elite mixed doubles competitors.
With this triumph, Dechapol and Supissara have set a formidable tone for 2026, displaying the resilience and spirit that characterize true champions.
