Chhattisgarh: At least six workers were killed and five others were seriously injured in an explosion at a steel plant in the Balodabazar–Bhatapara district on Thursday, officials said.
The blast occurred in the plant’s dust settling chamber, causing severe burns and fatalities. According to District Collector Deepak Soni, six workers died on the spot, while five others sustained serious injuries.
State Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said he has spoken with the district administration and directed that the injured workers receive the best possible medical treatment. He also ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and strict action against those responsible.
Police and administrative teams rushed to the site immediately after the explosion and started rescue operations. The injured workers were taken to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur for treatment.
The state government has assured full support and assistance to the families of the deceased workers.
