On April 6, Sri Lanka will launch its innovative “National QR Payment Promotion Program,” an essential move towards a cashless society. This initiative will operate under the guidance of Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Under this new program, service fees on LankaQR transactions of up to Rs. 5,000 will be fully waived for retailers, designed to bolster small enterprises by enabling them to accept digital payments without incurring extra costs.

Although Sri Lanka boasts a robust digital banking framework, a significant segment of its population still engages minimally with digital payment solutions. This initiative aims to stimulate greater adoption and facilitate a richer digital economic landscape.

In addition, the program will feature rewards, including raffles for both consumers and merchants, alongside a comprehensive promotional campaign nationwide. Officials emphasize that this effort aspires to foster a secure, rapid, and inclusive digital payment architecture across Sri Lanka.
