Veteran actor and comedian Satish Shah, renowned for his impeccable comic timing, passed away at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. He was admitted to Hinduja Hospital, where he breathed his last. His passing has been widely mourned by fans and colleagues alike.
Born in 1951 in a Gujarati family in Bombay State, Shah began his acting career in the 1970s. He rose to fame with the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where he showcased his versatility by playing 55 different characters. He continued to entertain audiences in sitcoms like Filmi Chakkar and Ghar Jamai, and gained iconic status as Indravadan Sarabhai in the beloved series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004-06).
Shah also had a distinguished film career. He debuted in Bhagwan Parshuram (1970) and later appeared in Umrao Jaan, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai, and the cult classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, where his comedic timing was widely praised. In the 1990s and 2000s, he appeared in hit films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hero No. 1, Main Hoon Na, and Fanaa. His last film appearance was in Humshakals (2014).
Satish Shah’s contribution to Indian television and cinema as a comic actor and character artist leaves an enduring legacy. His performances, marked by charm and wit, will be remembered for generations.
