Sheikh Mohammed praised the DCAS team for their effective handling of emergencies and their adherence to the highest global standards. He expressed pride in their outstanding contributions to the emergency medicine system and their integration of international best practices. This dedication supports Dubai's goal of providing advanced and accessible medical care, aiming to make the city one of the world’s most desirable places to live and work.
The meeting also included a briefing on the DCAS’s initiatives to train and attract national talent. Currently, the Corporation employs 102 national paramedics and advanced emergency medical technicians, as well as five emergency doctors in specialized roles. Sheikh Mohammed also met Emirati professionals who played significant roles in Operation Gallant Knight 2, the UAE’s humanitarian aid initiative for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey last year.
Mishal Abdulkarim Julfar, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services and a graduate of both the Emergency Medicine Programme and the Dubai Leaders Programme, provided an overview of the Corporation’s achievements. Julfar outlined the organization's success in developing an effective emergency medicine system and its ongoing commitment to the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Underlining the Corporation's recent successes, it achieved third place in the 2023 Dubai Government Customer Happiness Index with an impressive score of 96.1%. To meet the needs of Dubai’s expanding population, the Corporation has increased the number of ambulance points to 135 across the city. In 2023, the DCAS responded to over 235,000 emergency calls, achieving a record average response time of 7.5 minutes—a 13% improvement from the previous year.
