Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood. The epic saga features an ensemble cast, with Ranbir Kapoor stepping into the shoes of Lord Rama, Yash portraying the mighty Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The film, which promises a larger-than-life retelling of the iconic Hindu epic, is scheduled to release on Diwali 2026. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the legendary story is brought to the big screen with modern cinematic techniques and high-octane performances.
Reports suggest that the actors involved have put in immense effort and made significant sacrifices to be part of this ambitious project. With the scale of the production and the grandeur of the storyline, the cast and crew have reportedly spent months preparing, training, and getting into character for their roles.
Ajinkya Deo, a seasoned actor in Hindi and Marathi cinema, plays the pivotal role of Sage Vishwamitra, Lord Rama’s guiding mentor. Recently, Ajinkya opened up about his experience working alongside Ranbir Kapoor on the set of Ramayana: Part 1.
He said, “Ranbir made me feel very comfortable from the very beginning. He would often say things like, ‘Sir, beautiful shot!’ I loved that about him. He even joked about my age, but what struck me the most was his pure-hearted nature. There were no filters or pretensions—he is just genuinely himself.”
Ajinkya further explained how Ranbir’s authenticity translates on screen. “Ranbir is who he is, and that’s what makes him connect so well with the audience. There’s an immediate connection that happens because he doesn’t hide behind any barrier or screen. Earlier, actors used to have certain filters between themselves and the viewers, but today it’s all direct and real.”
The film’s first part will take viewers through the formative chapters of Lord Rama’s journey, his childhood, training under Sage Vishwamitra, and his eventual rise as the hero of Ayodhya. Meanwhile, audiences can also expect breathtaking visual effects, elaborate sets, and powerful performances from the star-studded cast.
Ramayana: Part 1 will hit theaters on Diwali 2026, while Ramayana: Part 2 is already planned for release on Diwali 2027, completing the epic saga. With Nitesh Tiwari at the helm and such a dedicated ensemble cast, the film is expected to create a significant impact both critically and commercially, and may very well set new benchmarks for mythological storytelling in Bollywood.
