Paige Bueckers, the popular American basketball player from the Dallas Wings, has opened up about her beauty routine and how she found her personal style off the court. In a recent interview with Forbes, she shared that she did not grow up knowing much about beauty or makeup. Like many young athletes, her life was filled with practice, games, schoolwork and travel. She said she never had long mornings or time to explore beauty routines before college. When she entered UConn, she realised she was learning beauty basics for the first time in her life.
Things changed when she signed a deal with Madison Reed. Through this, she started doing photoshoots, tried new looks and even attended New York Fashion Week. She said these experiences opened a new world for her, a world she never had the time to discover earlier. This helped her understand that she has an identity beyond basketball and can explore things that make her feel confident and happy.
Paige explained that one of the biggest surprises for her was how long beauty routines can take. Because of her busy schedule, she decided to keep her routine simple. For game days, she only carries a wax stick, water and a serum to keep her flyaway hair down. She said she used to wear double braids for years, but the braids were pulling on her hairline. Now she prefers a slick-back bun because it is quick, easy and comfortable, especially before important matches.
She also shared that she enjoys playing with hair colour. She has tried different demi-permanent shades like Sparkling Rosé and Pink Orchid. She said changing hair colour helps her express herself and have fun with her look. It makes her feel creative and gives her a sense of freedom.
Paige said she wants young girls to feel confident in exploring who they are. She believes girls should not feel like they must stay inside one identity. She wants them to know they can enjoy sports, beauty, fashion and anything that makes them feel strong and happy. She said she does not want girls to think they must be “just a basketball player.” They can be many things at the same time, and that is what makes them unique.
Paige Bueckers continues to inspire both on and off the court. Her simple message to young girls is that they should feel free to be themselves, try new things and embrace every part of their identity.
