Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, has signed a law to create the Sharjah Design Centre. The centre will be a separate legal body, which means it can take action to reach its goals. It will have its own money and management, and it will be owned by the Sharjah government. The centre will be called “Sharjah Design Centre,” or “SDC” for short.

The centre’s main office will be in the Sharjah Creative Quarter, which is part of University City in Sharjah. The ruler may also decide to open other branches in different parts of Sharjah.
The centre has many goals. It wants to celebrate culture, creativity, and new ideas in design and making products in the UAE and the region. It will also support design and manufacturing by helping businesses grow and using design to help the economy. The centre wants to encourage new ideas and high-quality work in design. It will also try to teach people about design and making products in a way that helps the community, culture, and economy.
The centre will have different jobs to do. It will launch ideas that help both the environment and the economy, like creating new products or doing research. It will work with thinkers, designers, and businesses to bring new ideas to life. The centre will also organize programs, events, and shows where designers can meet and share ideas. It will offer training and learning opportunities in design and making products. The centre will help develop the creative industries by using new ways of designing. It will also sell products and take part in both local and global markets.
The centre will offer private spaces for studios, work areas, and places to show off products. It will also look for support from other groups and agencies that have experience. The centre will be led by a director, who the ruler will choose. The director will manage the centre’s work, approve its plans, and ensure everything follows the law. The director will also sign contracts and represent the centre in legal matters.
