Good news for fans of Tamil cinema — the family drama "Maaman", starring Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi, is finally ready to stream online. The film, which was released in theatres on May 16, 2025, will begin streaming on ZEE5 from August 8, 2025.
Though the movie received mixed reviews when it hit theatres, it earned attention for its emotional story, strong performances, and family-based themes. Now, audiences who missed the film in cinemas can watch it comfortably at home.
"Maaman" is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj and written by Soori, who also plays the lead role of Inba. The film tells the story of a loving bond between a man and his sister’s child. After ten long years of marriage, Inba’s sister Girija finally becomes a mother. Inba grows very close to her baby boy, Laddu, and dreams of being called “Maaman,” which means uncle in Tamil.

However, things take a sudden turn. A shocking event changes how Inba connects not just with his nephew, but also with his wife Rekha, played by Aishwarya Lekshmi. His happy family life begins to fall apart. The film explores whether Inba can fix his broken marriage while continuing to be a loving uncle.
The official synopsis reads:
“Inba develops a close bond with his sister Girija’s son, Laddu. Soon, he finds himself in a dilemma when Laddu creates tension in his marriage with Rekha. Will he be able to restore his marriage?”

ZEE5 officially announced the OTT release with the message:

They also released the film’s trailer online. Fans responded with excitement, leaving comments like “Finally!” and “At last!” on social media. However, some viewers expressed disappointment that the film would not be dubbed in Telugu for its digital release.
ZEE Tamil also teased a TV premiere soon, though an exact date has not yet been confirmed.
"Maaman" was produced by K Kumar under Lark Studios. According to box office tracker Sacnilk, the film made a solid ₹41.15 crore worldwide, which is a strong performance for a drama of its genre.
"Maaman" is a movie full of emotions, family values, and life-changing choices. It connects with audiences who enjoy heartfelt stories about relationships. With its upcoming digital release on ZEE5, even more people will now get to enjoy this touching tale.
