Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has revealed his all-time Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) playing XI ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season.
Kohli, who has been associated with RCB since the league began in 2008, continues to hold the record as the IPL’s highest run-scorer with 8,661 runs in 259 innings. Having played more than 250 matches for the franchise, he remains one of the most loyal players in the tournament’s history.
In a video released by RCB ahead of their opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28 in Bengaluru, Kohli picked a balanced and strong XI featuring some of the biggest names in cricket.
For the opening pair, Kohli selected himself alongside former RCB star Chris Gayle. The explosive duo is followed by legendary South African batter AB de Villiers at number three.
At number four, Kohli chose KL Rahul, praising his past performances for the franchise. Current RCB captain Rajat Patidar was placed at number five for his ability to handle spin effectively. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was included at number six.
The all-round and bowling unit includes Harshal Patel as a key seamer who can contribute with the bat. Legendary spinner Anil Kumble was picked for his experience, while the pace attack features Mitchell Starc and Dale Steyn. Spin duties are handled by Yuzvendra Chahal.
Kohli emphasized that he wanted a strong bowling lineup, which is why he included both Starc and Steyn as overseas pacers along with Gayle and de Villiers.
Virat Kohli’s All-Time RCB XI:
Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, KL Rahul, Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel, Anil Kumble, Mitchell Starc, Dale Steyn, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Despite having such star players over the years, RCB is yet to win an IPL title, making this lineup a reminder of the team’s rich but unfinished legacy.
