DUBAI, 22 February 2026 – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the contract for Phase II of Hessa Street Development.
The project spans a 3 km stretch between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road. It includes constructing bridges totaling 8,835 metres, a 480-metre tunnel, and upgrading entry and exit points on several connecting roads.
Once completed, Hessa Street’s capacity will double from 4,000 to 8,000 vehicles per hour. The development will benefit 10 residential and development areas, serving around 650,000 residents, and reduce travel time from 24 minutes to just five minutes.
Phase I of Hessa Street Development, which features completed bridges, upgraded intersections, and dedicated cycling tracks, is scheduled to open in April 2026.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of RTA, said that Phase II complements Phase I and noted that the roads under this phase currently handle approximately half a million trips daily.
