Karachi is currently grappling with a serious fuel crisis due to an ongoing strike by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), which has resulted in the closure of petrol stations across the city and throughout Pakistan since 6 AM today, as reported by ARY News. This strike has depleted the supply of petroleum products, exacerbating the already tense situation.
Despite the strike, there are reports indicating that petroleum products are still being supplied from ports managed by Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing organizations. However, the disruption caused by the strike has significantly hampered normal fuel distribution channels, affecting daily life and essential services.
The Oil Tanker Owners Association has distanced itself from the strike, affirming its commitment to continue supplying fuel to crucial sectors such as power plants, airports, and railways. Shams Shahwani, President of the Oil Tanker Owners Association, reassured that essential services would not be affected due to their continued operations.

Amid assurances from PSO that the supply chain remains operational and petrol pumps would remain stocked, the public's concerns about fuel availability persist. A spokesperson for PSO reiterated the corporation's readiness to maintain a steady supply of petrol and affirmed their dedication to serving the public despite the challenges posed by the ongoing strike.
Negotiations between the government and the All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association to resolve the impasse have been ongoing but have yet to yield a breakthrough. The association initiated the strike to press for their demands, leading to a standoff that continues to impact fuel availability and distribution nationwide.
The situation has raised significant concerns among residents and businesses in Karachi and across Pakistan, with uncertainty prevailing over when normal fuel supply operations will resume fully. The public remains hopeful for a swift resolution to the strike to alleviate the current fuel crisis and restore normalcy in daily life and economic activities.
