The Indian government is keeping a close eye on a Chinese app called DeepSeek because people are worried about how it handles data. This app has become very popular quickly, and officials are concerned that it might store personal information on servers in China. This could be a problem for people in India who want their data kept safe.

The privacy rules of DeepSeek have raised questions. It says the data the app collects might be sent to China and stored there. The Indian government is checking this carefully and will take action if they find anything wrong.
Right now, officials say there is no big problem. But if any data is sent outside of India without permission, they will take action like they did in the past. India had banned other Chinese apps, like TikTok, in 2020 for similar reasons.
The government is waiting for more information. They expect to know within a week if the app is sending user data to China. If they find any wrongdoing, they will take action according to India’s laws.
Experts are also worried because even if the app doesn’t store data, it could still gather information about users. This could be used in ways that might not be safe for people.
DeepSeek has become very popular. It is the most downloaded free app in the US App Store and is also one of the top apps in India, next to others like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
Other countries are also being careful with DeepSeek. The US is looking into it because of worries about security. Australia has warned people to be careful when using it. Italy’s government is also concerned about how it handles personal information.
In India, government departments are watching the app closely. If they find any problems, they will investigate and take action. For now, they are staying alert, and if the app is found to be misusing data, they will respond quickly.
