Dwarka Doctor Explains Why Hair Loss in Women Is Often Reversible

Many women panic when they see more hair on their pillow or in the shower. They try new shampoos, oils, and diets, but the hair fall still continues. A senior doctor from Dwarka, New Delhi, says that this worry can be reduced, because most hair loss in women can actually be reversed.

Dr Brijmohan Arora, a diabetologist with 24 years of experience, shared in a recent video that hair loss in women is often a sign of another problem inside the body. He explained that unlike men, where hair fall is usually genetic and continues with age, women often lose hair due to issues that can be treated. He said, “Hair loss in women is often a symptom, not a disease.” This means that fixing the real cause can help the hair grow back.

Dr Arora pointed out that many young women today feel stressed and confused when they see their hair thinning. They may blame pollution, hair colour, heat styling, or even genetics. But according to him, the reason is usually deeper and related to health. He explained that nutrient deficiency is one of the biggest causes. Low levels of iron, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, or zinc can weaken the roots. When the body is missing these nutrients, hair becomes thin and breaks easily.

Hormonal changes can also lead to hair loss. Women who have thyroid issues, PCOS, or post-pregnancy changes often see sudden shedding. Dr Arora added that high stress levels and recovery after illnesses like dengue, typhoid, or COVID-19 can also cause temporary hair fall. The good news is that these types of hair loss improve once the health issue is treated and the body gets enough rest and nutrition.

He explained that women should not ignore early signs of hair fall. If the problem continues for many weeks, they should get simple tests to check iron, thyroid, and Vitamin D levels. These check-ups can help find the exact cause quickly. Treating the deficiency or medical issue usually brings the hair back to normal growth.

Dr Arora also said that good lifestyle habits matter. Balanced food, enough sleep, low stress, and gentle hair care can protect hair. He suggested avoiding tight hairstyles, harsh chemicals, or hot tools that damage the hair root.

The doctor made a clear point: hair fall in women is usually not permanent. It is reversible when the cause is identified early. He encouraged women not to panic or self-diagnose. Instead, seeking medical advice can save time and prevent long-term damage.

Many people responded to his video, saying they finally understood why their hair fall did not stop even after using expensive products. Dr Arora’s message highlights something important — for women, hair fall is often the body's way of asking for help.
