Dubai, UAE – On the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, GE Aerospace announced a major expansion in the Middle East with the construction of a new On Wing Support (OWS) facility at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai South. This move reflects GE Aerospace’s strategic focus on supporting growing engine service demands while preparing for the upcoming entry into service of the GE9X engine.
The custom-built leased facility will cover 120,000 square feet, significantly expanding from the existing 29,000-square-foot setup. Designed to serve as a central hub for maintenance, field operations, technology development, and training, it will be the first OWS location to feature dedicated MRO training facilities for both internal teams and customers.
The hub will play a critical role in servicing CFM LEAP engines, which constitute a growing portion of GE Aerospace’s global engine fleet. By integrating advanced technologies and streamlined processes, the facility aims to deliver quicker turnaround times, more efficient lease pool management, and expanded field support across GE Aerospace, CFM International, and Engine Alliance engines.
Dubai South’s strategic position at the future Al Maktoum International Airport – set to become the world’s largest airport – adds to the significance of the investment. With its connectivity across air, maritime, and ground trade, the location positions GE Aerospace at the heart of a rapidly developing aviation ecosystem.
Construction is slated to begin in December 2025, with the facility expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2027. The development not only strengthens GE Aerospace’s regional footprint but also contributes to the UAE’s vision of becoming a leading global hub for aviation innovation.
