Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum — Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council — the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened registration for the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, which will be held from September 24 to 25, 2025.
This will be the fourth edition of the event and will follow the theme "Redefining Mobility: The Path to Autonomy." The goal is to highlight how Dubai is working to bring self-driving technology to its public transport systems and support the future of smart, driverless travel.
The event will focus on how different types of transport can be brought together in one place to serve passengers better. This means combining buses, taxis, and other driverless services to work smoothly as one system.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, who is the CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency and head of the organising committee, said that the congress has been very successful in the past. He shared that the event has become an important gathering for companies, experts, and officials from all over the world who are working on self-driving transport. These people come to share ideas, show their latest technologies, and explore how to move forward with autonomous travel.
Bahrozyan also said that Dubai wants to make 25% of its transport driverless by the year 2030. During the congress, the winner of the 2024 Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport will be announced. The top team will win a $3 million prize for presenting the best and most creative idea in autonomous transport.
Many companies entered this challenge either alone or as part of a team. Their task was to create systems where different kinds of driverless transport can be used together in one service — something that can help passengers move around the city with ease.
Dubai's RTA is fully focused on turning self-driving transport into a reality. With several projects already in place, the city is pushing forward to become a leader in future mobility. This congress is a key part of that effort, bringing together the brightest minds to make travel smarter, safer, and more connected for everyone.
