The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has started updating the road markings at 89 locations across the city. This includes highways, main roads, residential streets, and key intersections. This work is part of the 2025 Preventive Maintenance Plan for road markings and signs, which is a part of RTA’s annual plan to maintain the safety and quality of the roads in Dubai.
As part of the plan, 50 major roads will have their markings re-done. These roads include Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, First Al Khail Road, 2nd December Street, Al Khawaneej Street, Amman Street, Zabeel Street, and Al Manama Street. The work will also cover 39 residential areas such as Al Awir, Umm Hurair, Oud Al Muteena, Al Twar, Al Barsha, Al Sufouh, and Al Qusais Industrial Area.
The project also involves repainting red surfacing in areas that are designed to slow down traffic, like speed reduction zones along major roads. The team will also repaint box junctions at busy intersections, parking areas, and places with traffic-calming measures like speed humps.

Abdulla Ali Lootah, the Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance Department at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, explained that renewing road markings is a key part of their 2025 Preventive Maintenance Plan. Over 30,000 meters of road markings will be repainted to ensure safety across Dubai’s roads. He added that the project helps with the goals of RTA’s Traffic Safety Strategy and supports their mission to make Dubai a global leader in road safety and infrastructure.
Lootah also mentioned that RTA uses the latest technology to clean, remove, and renew old road markings. They use high-quality materials that will make the road signs last longer. To ensure that traffic flows smoothly during the work, RTA is taking all necessary safety measures.
