Awqaf Dubai Reports 52% Surge in Education Funds

Dubai: The Endowment and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (Awqaf Dubai) has announced a significant rise in its educational endowment portfolio, with total assets reaching AED 718 million in 2026, marking a 52% increase compared to the previous year.

The foundation revealed that these assets are distributed across 52 endowments, all dedicated to strengthening the education sector and supporting students from low-income families.

The portfolio includes 24 real estate endowments valued at AED 663 million, comprising buildings, villas, and retail units. Additionally, there are 28 financial endowments worth AED 55 million, consisting of investments such as bonds and shares.

Awqaf Dubai stated that the returns generated from these endowments are actively used to provide educational opportunities, scholarships, and essential school supplies. These efforts are carried out in collaboration with 45 educational institutions.

In 2025 alone, around 3,100 students enrolled in public schools and universities—both within the UAE and internationally—benefited from these initiatives. The total value of scholarships distributed reached approximately AED 5.9 million.

Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, highlighted that educational endowments play a crucial role in empowering underprivileged students. He noted that such initiatives help students pursue their academic goals and build successful futures.

He further emphasised that the 52% growth reflects the foundation’s ongoing commitment to expanding its support and ensuring the sustainability of educational contributions.

Al Mutawa also pointed out that Awqaf Dubai continues to enhance its endowment portfolio and increase the number of beneficiaries, thereby strengthening its long-term social impact.

He praised the role of donors and philanthropists, stating that investing in education is a direct investment in the future of the UAE, contributing to a more sustainable and progressive society.
