Madison won against strong actors like Demi Moore (The Substance), Fernanda Torres, Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), and Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Perez). In Anora, Madison played Ani, a dancer who suddenly marries Ivan, a rich Russian man. But his family does not like the marriage, and problems start.
Madison grew up in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles. She started acting at 16 in the TV show Better Things. She later had a small role in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and was in the horror film Scream V. Winning an Oscar is a big moment in her career.
Brody won his first Oscar for The Pianist when he was 29, making him the youngest man to win Best Actor. With this second win, he joins famous actors like Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins, Jack Nicholson, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Spencer Tracy, who have also won Best Actor more than once.
In The Brutalist, Brody played Laszlo Toth, an architect who moves to the U.S. after World War II to start a new life. The story is similar to Brody’s real family history. His mother, Sylvia Plachy, escaped from Hungary and moved to another country. At the Venice Film Festival, Brody said he understands how hard it is for people who leave their home to start fresh.
Brody has worked with many great directors like Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, Peter Jackson, Spike Lee, Barry Levinson, Terrence Malick, Roman Polanski, and Steven Soderbergh.
With these Oscars, both Brody and Madison have made a big mark in Hollywood and added to their success.
