His acting career began in 1996 with a TV show called Mumkin. That same year, he acted in his first movie Dastak with actress Sushmita Sen.
Over the years, Mukul worked in many languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam. He appeared in several popular films such as:
Yamla Pagla Deewana
Son of Sardaar
R... Rajkumar
Jai Ho
He also acted in TV shows like 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897, where he played powerful roles that left a strong impact on the audience.
In an interview in 2021, Mukul looked back at his 25 years in the film industry with pride and gratitude. “Even if I want to, I cannot complain,” he said. “I started with a big launch in Dastak, and I kept getting good work in films and TV. I also did regional cinema. It’s been a long and satisfying journey.”
He added that although he wasn’t always in the spotlight, people in the industry respected his work. “Over the years, I somehow built a space for myself where directors would say, ‘this role suits Mukul Dev.’ Whether it was Yamla Pagla Deewana or Sarfarosh, I was chosen because they believed I could do justice to the role.”
Mukul was proud of the work he did and had no regrets. He was not just an actor, but a kind-hearted and humble person who was respected and loved by his friends, fans, and co-stars.
