A special agreement was signed by Mohamed Suhail Al Neyadi, head of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office, and Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. This deal is important for promoting the sport and keeping shooting alive as an important tradition in the UAE.
The competition will take place at three different locations: Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Shooting Club in Zayed City, and Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club. People from all age groups who are interested in shooting will be able to participate.
Mohamed Suhail Al Neyadi said that the cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council will help improve shooting with licensed weapons. He explained that shooting is an important part of the country’s culture, and this championship will help participants grow as shooters. He thanked the leaders for supporting the event, especially Sheikh Nahyan, for sponsoring the championship.
Aref Hamad Al Awani also spoke about the importance of the agreement. He said the competition will help find new talent and improve the shooting sport. He promised that the Council would work hard to make sure the event is a success and show the world that Abu Dhabi is a top place for sports.
The qualification rounds will begin on December 28, 2024, at Al Forsan Resort, with events for Saktoon (Men, Women, and Juniors) and the 9mm Pistol. Other rounds will be held at Al Dhafra Club on January 4 and 5, 2025, for Saktoon, and the 223 and 308 rifle. The last rounds will take place at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, and Golf Club from January 10 to 12, 2025. The top 30 shooters in each category will be chosen for the finals.
Anyone who wants to participate can register on the official website of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office (whso.gov.ae) starting from December 23, 2024.
