Zarine Khan, the beloved wife of veteran actor Sanjay Khan and mother of designer Sussanne Khan, passed away peacefully at her Mumbai residence this morning. She was 81 and had been battling age-related health issues for some time.
Zarine leaves behind her husband Sanjay Khan and children Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan. Known for her grace and warmth, Zarine was a pillar of her family and played an instrumental role in shaping her children’s lives.
Sanjay and Zarine’s love story is often remembered fondly. The couple first met at a bus stop and soon fell in love, marrying in 1966. Zarine also made her mark in the world of cinema, acting in popular films such as Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali.
Earlier this year, Sussanne celebrated her mother’s 81st birthday, sharing an emotional video on Instagram featuring candid family moments. She wrote:
"Mama Mia. My My.. what an amazing Mama you are. All that I do and all that I create in my life have to do with the way you formed my heart, my mind and my grit… I am so honoured and grateful to be your little girl. May the Universe always protect you and keep continuing to spread that Love and the smiles you do… Have the most spectacular year!"
Sussanne Khan, renowned interior designer and daughter of Zarine and Sanjay, was previously married to Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. The couple tied the knot in 2000 after four years of dating and divorced in 2014. They continue to co-parent their two sons, Hrehaan and Hridaan.
Zarine Khan will be remembered not just for her roles on-screen but also as a loving mother and guiding force in her family. Her warmth, compassion, and strength leave behind a lasting legacy in both her family and those who knew her.
