The Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Youth Council, has launched the “Abu Dhabi Youth in Emergency Response” initiative. The programme aims to strengthen community preparedness and enhance the role of youth in crisis response efforts across the emirate.
This initiative is designed to align with potential risks while building a flexible and efficient emergency response ecosystem. It focuses on engaging young people as active partners in supporting authorities during emergencies, ensuring better coordination and quicker response times.
Focus on Youth Empowerment and Training
A key objective of the initiative is to empower Abu Dhabi’s youth by equipping them with practical skills and knowledge required during crises. Through hands-on training and real-world simulations, participants will gain experience in handling emergency situations effectively.
The programme also includes specialised awareness workshops that highlight ADCMC’s operational frameworks, digital platforms, and risk assessment strategies. These sessions aim to improve public awareness while supporting the goals of the “Our Community is Prepared” campaign.
Leadership Emphasises Community Role
His Excellency Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, stated that the initiative reflects a strategic vision that places people at the centre of preparedness efforts. He emphasised that empowering youth is essential for building a resilient and sustainable emergency response system.
He added that a well-informed and capable society plays a crucial role in supporting institutional efforts and ensuring a timely, coordinated response in line with global best practices.
Youth as Key Partners in Preparedness
Saif Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Youth Council, highlighted that the initiative reinforces the importance of youth as active contributors to community safety. By providing them with the right tools and training, the programme aims to develop a generation capable of responding effectively to emergencies.
Noura Al Badi, initiative leader and Youth Council member, noted that the programme offers a practical platform for transforming awareness into real action. She stressed that it will help create a group of skilled young individuals who can actively support crisis response efforts across various sectors.
Strengthening a Culture of Readiness
The initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s broader commitment to enhancing preparedness through strong partnerships and community involvement. It promotes a culture of prevention and readiness, reinforcing the idea that emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility.
By actively involving youth and society, Abu Dhabi aims to safeguard its development and ensure resilience in the face of any crisis or disaster.
